I definitely sound like a broken record - but this time has flown by!! But again - I am soooo thankful that I am busy because my time goes by fast and I dont have time to be bored! It also makes me more thankful for time spent with family and friends.
So anyway...I've had some behavior problems in class lately. One in particular that is troubling to me. I want so badly to help this child and I want so badly for him to make the right choices, but it bothers me when he will just lie to me day after day and tell me to my face what I want to hear, then go somewhere else and do the opposite. Ugh!
I got a new student today! At this time last year I probably had 7 new students already, but it was kind of refreshing today to see a new face. My class did very well at accepting her in and taking her under their wing. It was very nice to see. Hopefully that means I'm doing something right. :o)
This Presidential election has been interesting. One thing is for sure - I am glad it has passed by. I was getting so many phone calls, mailers, and junk mail every day! Anyway - clearly everyone has their own opinion about who won, who should've won, etc. My opinion? I voted for who I thought would best lead our country. I dont think that either one had the cure-all for everything, but one came the closest.
It's no secret that most conservatives support John McCain, and as much as radio stations try not to be bias, its interesting to listen to them, because every now and again things slip out. I was listening to a Christian music station the day after election day and some people were calling in panicked about the new President-elect. One caller had a very interesting view on this. He said (paraphrased from what I can remember of course):
"Lets not forget that people in the Bible suffered beyond our imagination under an unjust ruler for years. People have endured more than we, as Americans ever have for their faith. In this election 2 men were running for President, but remember that there is only 1 king. No matter what happens in the next 4 or 8 years, your faith will prevail and carry you through, as long as you remain faithful to the ONE prophet, priest and king."
I loved his perspective on things. How true it is that people have suffered far worse than anything I can imagine for their faith. Am I worried that something is going to be radically changed that threatens my every day life in the next 4 or 8 years? no.
Am I excited to be a part of the history? Yes! As a history nerd, its been fun with this election to teach my kids. Either way, history would have been made and I am a proud Christian American who knows that regardless of who our President is, my faith remains in one King - the one who can bring true salvation and peace to my life.
